Life Year Tokens are a form of magical currency used by the Olympian Gods. Instead of paying for something with cash or even a credit card, each of these tokens takes off five years of your life from the back end. For example: Say you lost five Life Year Tokens in a bad game of blackjack. If humans generally live to one hundred years old, you would live to be about seventy-five.
A Life Year Token is a wooden coin about the size of a silver dollar. On both sides is etched “Five Years of Life” as each token is worth five years.
These tokens are most notably used by The Kerkopes Brothers Carnival as a means of currency to free the Carnies who work there. You can obtain Life Year Tokens to add years to your life by playing and winning the rigged carnival games. Many demigods once had to pool together all of their extra Life Year Tokens to save counselors kidnapped by the cursed Carnies.
Another area in which Life Year Tokens are valuable is Mr. D’s Blackjack Table. Being an Olympian, Mr. D deals in the matters of Life Year Tokens and not mortal money. While obtaining a seat at Mr. D’s table is a rare occasion, you should be prepared to lose some years off the backend if you’re not too careful with your cards.
