The Vardo

The Vardo with an open door, ready to welcome in demigods

The Vardo is a mystical green trailer known to appear on the Camp Half-blood Austin grounds every once in a while. It originally belonged to Courtney, a demigod child of Apollo, cursed with having the animus of Homer inside them. After camp successfully separated Homer’s animus from Courtney, they left us as co-owners of The Vardo.

Walking up onto its porch, you will be literally greeted by an open brass hand, the door handle to this whimsical cart. The interior of The Vardo is known to keep many of the arcane and magical items of camp safe, including the traditional Hollower bandoliers. It always smells of incense, herbs, and old books. You’ll be sure to spot many items hanging from the ceiling, and the walls are packed with all sorts of bits and bobbles. Oakmoss from the Grove of Dodona grows in every crack and seam inside the ancient wooden structure.

The Vardo has all sorts of magical abilities, the most notables being time displacement and spatial distortion. This trailer was the item to blame for the disappearance of Instructors Adele and Kat, who both claimed they were stuck in an Arizona IHOP for three weeks. However, The Vardo can still be used for regular travel, as shown in Topher’s trip to Boston to meet with Rick Riordan.
