While Smiley’s have become a problem as of late, it is the mask that remains the root of this chaotic evil. These masks are powered by the Godly Will of Dionysus, who gave the original mask to an actor in Ancient Greece as a mark of victory. Ever since, masks have been used in theatres to convey immersive stories. This centuries-old ancient power gives the Smiley masks the ability to become sentient, floating on the air at will, and latching onto anyone who is close enough in range to fall victim to their schemes. They can also reproduce themselves.
Knowing this, it can be inferred that any Smiley we encounter can be centuries old or much younger. Almost every Smiley we have encountered carries an extra mask to claim another victim for their kind. The Smiley Mask can be taken off with specific incantations from Dionysus and nectar, but the removal should only be attempted by him. Upon removal of the mask, the victim will have deep wounds on the corners of their mouth, meant to symbolize an extended smile. These will fade with time but can potentially leave scarring.
It should also be noted that while most Smilies focus on getting masks on victims, some Smilies can use their ancient power to control the minds of those around them.
Some well-known Smilies include Dufflebag, The Gentleman, Buttercup, The Weeper, and the counterpart to Smilies, Frownies.
