Barrier Sand is a brightly colored sand that is typically carried by Hollowers on their leather bandoliers inside old 50 caliber bullet casings with cork stoppers. When sprinkled on the ground, it can create a small temporary barrier between demigods and monsters and is useful for escapes. The barrier activates when the undead reach the line of sand, often crackling a brilliant blue/green color as the magical energy acts against the monster, preventing it from moving forward.
Another item similar to Barrier Sand is Blessed Salt. It can be used to form a similar barrier and is a tactic introduced to Camp Half-Blood Austin by Legatus Livia. These temporary barriers are very useful for higher-level patrol commands and tactical retreats and help infiltrate monster-filled areas safely and securely without risking any demigod lives.
