A Godly Animus is the soul/spirit that ties a God or Goddess to their ancient powers. This Animus can be passed on from a God or Goddess to their demigod offspring, and the magic will allow a demigod to see through The Mist and provide them with Godly Powers. If someone lacks an Animus or has their Animus stolen, they will be similar to that of a mortal, not able to interact with the Gods.
An Animus can be placed in any object and also can be split into fragments. Topher Bradfield, son of Apollo and Aphrodite, has been known to split his Animus into multiple pieces as a safety precaution. Most recently, Topher’s Godly Animus was kept in a book full of memories from past campers and counselors of Camp Half-Blood Austin.
