Mummies

Shrieker mummy. Camp Half-Blood Austin

Mummies are just the kind of foe you’d expect to see from Ancient Egyptian mythology. Each of them is wrapped in a burial shroud, but that does not mean they are all alike. You may find mummies just having a rough day crying on the ground, or you may find a mummy in need of a dance party. Mummies are something you always have to look out for at camp and learning to identify Mummies will help you on your demigod journey. Remember that any mummy can be hostile, even if they don’t look it. You can and will get Mummyrot if a mummy touches you. Find a Hollower and run for the hills, because Mummies cannot be killed with your camp issued weapons or any celestial bronze ones either. Shambler Mummies: Shambler Mummies are your run of the mill typical mummy. They are notoriously slow and shuffle their way along without a care in the world, hence the nickname “shambler”. It is not out of the ordinary to find a Shambler Mummy with an eccentric personality, as what they lack in weaponry, they make up for in relentlessness. Claw Mummies: While Claw Mummies move a lot slower than normal mummies, they make up for it with their anger and specialized weapon. Claw mummies can, on occasion, be covered in armor, which prevents the wax tablet square from a Hollower from getting on the mummy’s chest to kill it. Not only can they have armor, but most Claw mummies have a massive dragon claw sprouting from the end of their arm and have the full ability to use them against any Questers or campers they see. They have been known to open a car up in short order, with that weapon. Claw Mummies should only be handled by trained counselors or high-level Hollowers. Shrieker Mummies: These mummies follow the same rules as all the other mummies, except they are much scarier. The remains of an Ancient Egyptian Pharoah’s bodyguards, Shrieker mummies can run extremely fast, are extremely intelligent, and are typically hostile on sight. While normal mummies can be occasionally handled without a Hollower present, when you see a Shrieker, it is in your best interest to run. You will know when you encounter a Shrieker because of its highly recognizable scream. Most times, you can even hear this scream from the dining hall, even if the mummy encounter happened on Quest. The effect the shriek can have on demigods can vary from, confusion, temporary loss of hearing, and intense pain. On rare occasions, this mummy can exhale a column of fine dust or sand. Contact with this attack can cause skin blisters and burns. Shrieker Mummies wear armor over their chest, and even after that is knocked off, the Hollower’s incantation must be said three times for the mummy to die, meaning you’re in tough luck if your Hollower is slow!

Mummy Queen. Camp Half-Blood Austin

Mummy Queen: When an area is overrun by mummies, it is typical to find a Mummy Queen amongst them. A Mummy Queen can be identified by the Egyptian Pschent worn on her head. All mummies in the area are loyal solely to the Mummy Queen. Examples of Mummy Queens include Heka Nut, a Mummy Queen we ran into early on in the Summer of 2021.

Crawler Mummies: First encountered in the Summer of 2021 when a new Mummy Queen arose, Crawler Mummies crawl on all fours. They move notably faster than a Shambler Mummy, but besides that, little is currently known on them in regards to how hard they are to Hollow. Updates to follow.

Sorcerer Mummies: While little is also known about Sorcerer Mummies, we have seen that they hold powerful enough magic to push back and topple over demigods with a wave of magical energy. They largely stay very still and only move to cast spells; however, we do not know the extent of their spells or how hard they are to Hollow. Updates to follow.
